Faculty: Dr. Timothy A. Jones
Dr. Timothy A. Jones is currently serving as Lecturer in Percussion Studies at the music department of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Tim earnt his Associate Diploma and Bachelor of Music degrees in Jazz Studies from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Percussion from UNLV. He is Vice President of the Nevada chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and coordinator of the Las Vegas Music Festival 'Percussion Institute.' As a professional percussionist, Tim has toured and performed extensively across Australia, in Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. He often works as a section percussionist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, is drummer with the 'Wild Celts' Irish band and with his own 'Savvy Jazz Trio.' He also performs around the Las Vegas area as a 'Steel Pan' artist and freelance percussionist. Tim endorses SABIAN cymbals, Kori marimbas and Encore mallets and will be an active clinician for Kori, Sabian and Encore beginning fall 2004. His compositions and arrangements are now available through Woodbar Music Press.
