UNIVERSITY CONCERT SINGERS

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30-11:20 a.m.
(listed in the class schedule as MUS 111E/411E/611E University Singers II)
The new concert choir is the primary undergraduate choral ensemble in the department and will involve 50-75 singers. All new vocal students enrolled in applied voice lessons at 161Q or above must register for this ensemble. Students are required to sing in University Concert Singers as specified for each degre track. Membership is open each semester to other music majors and to non-majors by audition in August, one week before fall semester begins. There will be two or three local performances each semester with the possibility of one short mini-tour. Conductors: Prof. Weiller & Dr. Jensen

CHAMBER CHORALE

Tuesday & Thursday 11:30-1:00 p.m. Wednesday 11:30-12:20 p.m.

The Chamber Chorale moves to a daytime rehearsal schedule to continue its hallowed tradition as the music department's advanced chamber choir for undergraduate and graduate students (20-32 singers). Rehearsal and performance commitments are extensive and include touring. Chamber Chorale members are expected to be leaders in all music activities at UNLV - i.e., superior attendance and dependability, positive attitude, and a genuine desire to contribute and grow with the ensemble in order to present the finest performances possible. Membership in Chamber Chorale is a full-year commitment (fall and spring semesters). Membership is by audition in August, one week before the fall semester begins. All members of Chamber Chorale must be enrolled in University Concert Singers for a minimum of two years. Conductor: Prof. Weiller

WOMEN'S CHORUS

Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The Women's Chorus presents a wide variety of repertoire written specifically for women's voices. Membership is open each semester to all students, faculty, staff, andcommunity members - no audition required. Members of Women's Chorus may also audition for Nightingales, a small non-credit ensemble which meets on Thursday evenings from 8-9 p.m. Conductor: Dr. Jensen

VARSITY MEN'S GLEE CLUB

Monday 7:00-9:00 p.m.

The Varsity Men's Glee Club renews its tradition of energetic music making with a new rehearsal schedule and new conductors. Membership is open each semester to all students, faculty, staff and community members-no audition required. We anticipate 35-50 singers this year. Members of Varsity Men may also audition for The ACappela Fellas. a small non-credit ensemble which rehearses seperately (rehearsal time to be determined). Conductors: Prof. Weiller & Dr. Jensen

UNIVERSITY MASTER CHORUS

Tuesday 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The University Master Chorale is a new semi-professional chorus which draws its membership from the finest choral musicians in the community-music teachers, alumni, community members and students. The Master Chorale will present a concert series encompassing a breadth and depth of outstanding choral repertoire and may also expand into a symphony choraus for performances of choral-orchestral masterworks during the season. Membership in the University Master Chorale is a full-year commitment (fall and spring semesters). Membership is by audition inAugust, one week before the fall semester begins. OPERA CHORUS

Tuesday & Thursday 1:30-2:20 p.m. / Monday 6:00-7:50 p.m.

The Opera Chorus functions as the stage chorus for major productions of the UNLV Opera Theatre. The basic rehearsal schedule is Tuesdy and Thursday afternoons, with Monday evening and additional evenings added when nearing the opening of a production. Membership in Opera Chorus is required of all first-year vocal majors who hlod a vocal scholarship (B.M. and B.A. degrees)

OPERA PRODUCTION

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 7:00-10:00 p.m.
(listed in the class schedule as MUS 441/641 Opera Production)
Opera Production is the primary rehearsal time for all main stage productions of the UNLV Opera Theatre. Participation is contingent upon passing opera auditions held at various times during the year for upcoming productions. Opera Production or Opera Chorus isrequired for all second-, third-, and fourth-year vocal majors who hold a vocal scholarship (B.M. and B.A. degrees).
