Each year, students and faculty of the Department of Music present more than 100 concerts, recitals, and staged performances in Las Vegas. Our orchestras, bands, and choirs are augmented by numerous solo and small-ensemble performances. All UNLV ensembles are open to any UNLV student, and most require previous experience and an audition. Various ensembles specialize in early music, contemporary music, classical and contemporary music, jazz and improvisation, and many other eclectic styles of music.

Choirs
UNLV’s choral ensembles maintain an active schedule of appearances each year and enjoy a reputation for excellent performances throughout the Southwest as well as Hawaii, New York, Canada, and Mexico. The choirs perform a wide variety of a cappella repertoire as well as major choral-orchestral masterworks. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students, music majors and nonmajors. Some choirs are also open to high school students, community members, and alumni.

Chamber Ensembles
The department encourages students to participate in small ensembles in order to develop critical skills of ensemble playing. Repertoire ranging from the Baroque period through contemporary music may be studied in the various existing ensembles.
