Admission Information
UNDERGRADUATE
Applicants to the Bachelor of Music in Composition should follow the steps below:
1. Follow the link for "Prospective Students - Undergraduate" and click on "Apply Online" or click on the link below to go directly to the Undergraduate Admissions page.

2. Schedule and audition with the Music Department. You are expected to perform on the instrument of your choice (for the B.M. in Composition - Piano and Intrumental concentrations), or if applying for the B.M. in Composition-Vocal Concentration, you are expected to do a vocal audition.
3. Schedule a meeting with a member of the Composition Area faculty by e-mailing Dr. Jorge Grossmann at: jorge.grossmann@unlv.edu
GRADUATE
Applicants to the Master of Music in Theory/Composition should follow the steps below:
1. Submit your application online to the Graduate College.
2. Submit to the Departmentof Music:
2.1 A portfolio of compositions including at least one work
from three of the following categories: a) orchestra,
wind ensemble or chorus; b) solo instrument and piano or solo
piano; c) string quartet, brass quintet, woodwind quintet,
or other small ensemble; d) set of songs for solo voice
and piano; e) original composition scored for jazz
ensemble. Additional works may be included. Include recordings if available.
2.2 A 500-word essay defining career goals and explaining
how graduate studies in music will advance applicant
toward these goals.
2.3 Two letters of recommendation from former instructors.
3. If accepted, student must pass history and theory placement examinations or complete remedial work.
